Paul at the 2021 DULUX Tri-series cricket

25^th and 26^th February 2021
After vigorous trialing and training, I was selected to play for the Dulux Rebel 11. The Rebels were made up of the finest painters/cricketers from across the country, including former NZ Black Cap James Marshall. As an avid cricket fan and player into my early 20’s, I was treated to two games of T20 cricket at Clifton Oval Hastings. We played in front of 350 fans and two streakers!

First up for the Rebels, a must win game against the ACC (The Alternative Commentary Collective). Jeremy Wells, Matt Heath, Jason Hoyte and Hamish Marshall – just not good enough on the day, but a hell of a lot of laughs!

The second match for the Rebels was a grudge match against our pairs, a cocky Dulux Tradie 11 with former black cap Matthew Sinclair. Needing 182 runs to win, the Rebels chased them down with an over to spare.

Now the best feeling in the world, The Rebels on the top stair of the pavilion lifting the silverware.

Finally, a BIG thank you to our friends at Dulux for a great couple of days (cricket was the winner…) and look forward to a return match.
